Title (norwegian): Tårefall
Part of “The sad series”
Year: 2023/2024
Tearfall. So many tears that it grinds and foams at the bottom of the waterfall. But is sorrow bottomless and wasted time or will something be able to live on in the salty waters? Like in spring when trees and bushes are cut back to give them a new start and better growth.
Alex Offerdal is painting in symbols. He says he does not care about either religion or politics, but still some of his paintings are clearly inspired from exactly that. He has an explosive and naive way of expression. Even though his motives are often dark, tells us a sad story about life or the world, they are somewhat SpongeBob cartoon like and funny as well. They are painted from within his soul, a pure exposition of what his heart contains that day. Is it an emotion of sadness, or joy, humor, or freight or bewilderment.
