Scull

NOK 3,000.00

Artist Alex Offerdal

Painting on canvas

Signed on the rear

Size h 33 × w 24 cm

Title (norwegian): Skalle

Year: 2023/2024

This particular work “Scull”, painted with a toothbrush, in the early morning at his modest home outside Oslo. Was it a glance of someone else in the mirror, perhaps? This foresight we all get at some point? The famous artist symbol of Memento mori (Latin for "remember that you have to die"). From the reminder of the inevitability of death is also the hope in the resurrection. From dust to being a butterfly or a spring bud?

Alex Offerdal is painting in symbols. He says he does not care about either religion or politics, but still some of his paintings are clearly inspired from exactly that. He has an explosive and naive way of expression. Even though his motives are often dark, tells us a sad story about life or the world, they are somewhat SpongeBob cartoon like and funny as well. They are painted from within his soul, a pure exposition of what his heart contains that day. Is it an emotion of sadness, or joy, humor, or freight or bewilderment.
