Cecilie Åseruds' series "Afterthoughts" is made in a pitch black studio where she captures the essence of drying vegetables or fruit. Painting them with the light of her flashlight. This is the third "portrait" of a lemon. In fact the whole series started with an old lemon, but this time the lemon ha gone from a passive to an energic, humorous looking object, seemingly flying with a cape on.
To me it is as if the lemon has a face and a body. Striving to reach even higher. Never wanting to surrender to the end. Being ready for new adventures. She has in a way captured the impatience of our fast-paced society or a yearning to constantly experience something new and reach higher. And I think many, including myself, will recognize themselves and perhaps chose to see it as an asset. Even when experienced there is so much more knowledge to gain and life to live.
