Sophia Wessel

Sophia Wessel (b. 2000) is a Norwegian artist based in Bærum. Her artist studio is in Villa Fredheim. Operating mainly with oil paint and pencil, she creates moody, expressive portraits. Her work is characterized by variations in detail and texture, with colors layered and worked into the canvas. The stripped background contrasts with the movement and expression of the painting’s subject. The eyes are usually distorted in some way, seemingly closing the subject off from the painting’s viewer.

Three of Sophias works were exhibited as part of Munchx winter marked 2023 and they were all sold.
